Country Club Hills was originally known as Cooper’s Grove. German immigrants originally settled in the area during the 1800s. The early settlers constructed their schools and churches from the Joliet quarry rocks using pulleys and ropes. Major development didn’t take place until 1955 when developer J. Merrion constructed affordable homes with a country-like setting. Many families were drawn to the area due to the scenic streets and half-acre lots.
